Benjamin and Bonnie are my amazing friends. I have followed their relationship full circle with photographs. It's been incredible to capture their love and their evolution. I can't even believe that inside this tummy was this gorgeous boy: Mikael. Isn't he sweet? I can't wait to watch him grow. Huge hugs! Enjoy.

P.S. Doesn't Mikael look like he is smiling (with those adorable dimples!) in the 5th photograph down? Adorable.

When you photograph kids, either professionally, or if you are at home with your own kids, one of the most important things is to have your camera ready. Always. Kids surprise you. And if you aren't ready, you may never catch moments like this.

P.S. I had my camera ready. And when I woke up in the morning, as I left my room, I saw the twins hugging. I couldn't believe it. I grabbed my camera and started shooting. They only stayed that way for about a minute and then held hands and walked into the kitchen. Their mommy Aima never even saw them doing this. They just melt my heart.

Last year I photographed Emma and Elizabeth with their parents in Central Park. It's unbelievable how much changes in just one year. Emma was a baby, and now she is running around. These girls love nature. They love sticks and mud and dirt and leaves and grass. I had so much fun!

This session is a surprise for their dad! Enjoy!

Hi Lundsey, I am following your blog since a long time and I am always wondering how you do this yellowish color processing. I love it and love the sense of freedom your photos convey.

It's summer... The long weekend is almost here, and I feel like a popsicle. Have you tried the Zoku pops? Go on and get one. Rafa and Mikhail love them too!

We woke up super early (or maybe I should say I woke up super early, kids are up early every day) and did this shoot in the park. Look at that first shot. It's super rare to get a photograph of NO ONE else in Sheep's Meadow in Central Park. And that light! I am loving those shadows too. We sure lucked out.

Hannah, Abby and Sam are amazing. Mike and I know their family really well, and it is always a pleasure to capture their beautiful, energetic spirits. And the cream cheese all over Sam's face? Isn't that the best?

I photographed Rafay and Mikhail in the Hamptons a few weekends ago. They just turned two. And the funniest thing happened because Aima (mommy) asked the boys, "Who likes to play the guitar?" Rafa shouts out "Mr. Khan!!!" And out walks Mikhail (aka Mr. Khan) strumming on his toy guitar. So Mr. Khan plays the guitar, mommy sings, and Rafa sings along. They like to sing Old MacDonald has a Farm, In the Jungle, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes... The usual kid songs. It's the cutest thing I have ever seen. And then we went to the beach, and we played in the sand and walked in the ocean.

I adore their little personalities. It's amazing and incredible for me to document them every year and to see how far they have come in just two years: click here for a shoot when they were only a few months old.

P.S. How adorable is it that a 2 year old decides that his name is NOT Mikhail, but Mr. Khan? I love this kid. He's going to be a rockstar.

Notice the small things and be different. There are so many photographers out there, that it helps to strive to create images that are different. Different at every shoot. Different from anyone else. If you create images that are unique and that are a direct reflection of you and the couple, they will be amazing.

When I was photographing Liz and Brahm's wedding on Jost Van Dyke, I noticed these adorable children playing in the ocean. They were shy. But they kept coming near me. I noticed them right away. They were fascinated with my camera and with what was going on.

Look at the first photograph in this post. Do you see the little girl? She kept coming closer and closer to the bridal party as I started taking these images. I noticed her there, and I thought it would be amazing to have her and her brother in the photograph. The image would be unique (who else has little kids from a Caribbean island playing in the water during the portraits?). The image would be pure fun and a reflection of the easy going, creative, fun nature of the couple. I asked Liz and Brahm if they thought it would be cool if these children were in some of the bridal party portraits. They LOVED the idea. So we did it.

These are my favorite wedding party portraits that I have ever taken.

P.S. Notice the last three images. The cups are coming lower and lower down as they got more used to the camera. I don't think they had ever seen a camera like mine!
P.P.S. What do you do to think outside the box when you are taking pictures?

What a great idea to have the kids in the pictures! I'm sure you brought a lot of joy to their day, and I think that the experience is something that they will remember for a long time.
